3 months agoFriendly bartender, live Irish folk music, and a very tasty beef dip, what more can you ask for? The beef dip is really tender, I didn't find myself fighting through any fat or anything that can often happen with this dish. My only ding, but I didn't let it impact my rating, was the roll. I'd love something with a bit more chew to it. I'm native to the east coast, so I have different standards that I won't punish others for. :)

a year agoTLDR: fish and chips were on point! I loved the fish and chips, the crispiness but lightness of the batter was just right, the fish was tender and juicy. The French fries were perfectly fried and they gave me extra tartar sauce as well. Great food at a reasonable price!

2 months agoThere is a nice feel about this place which is as genuine as can be. We only stayed for a Guinness but it was well worth it. One of the best pints we have had (so too in an Irish bar in Santa Monica) - and that is saying something because everywhere we go we find in an Irish Bar to down a Guinness.

Edited a year agoA great pub with live music and super friendly staff. I asked for my sandwich to be made with a French baguette instead of regular toast, and it turned out amazing! I’ll definitely be coming back! The place is dog-friendly, which is a big plus. However, I wouldn’t recommend the calamari here. They’re tough to chew and feel like they’re trying to make you choke on long strips. I’ve had much better calamari elsewhere with a different, more enjoyable texture. If you’re planning to try the Beef Wellington like I did, you should know that on Sundays when the convention center is open, they’ll serve a convention menu and won’t be able to prepare this dish. For example, we were told that January is quite a busy month for them in this regard. I strongly recommend calling ahead to check, especially if you’re traveling from far away! It would also be helpful to have this kind of information available on their website. As for the Shepherd’s Pie, it’s decent, but I probably wouldn’t order it again. It has a lot of mashed potatoes, then a layer of gravy, and finally ground meat with peas. I felt there wasn’t enough meat, and there were too many peas. I’d prefer more meat and perhaps replacing some of the peas with carrots. Regarding the clam chowder, it’s good and is served with a piece of bread. It’s not quite the same as what you’d get in a seafood restaurant, but for a pub, it’s a decent level of quality.

8 months agoDuring a convention weekend (with the convention center RIGHT across the street) there’s nothing better than finding a reliable Irish pub. Although the drink prices were a bit steep - the tacos are incredibly well priced as well as the rest of their menu, with solid self service seating, and incredible team to boot! When I inevitably return for the same event next year you can be sure i’ll be back at The Auld Dubliner.

2 months agoOur party of 4 stopped in on a whim. What a great decision that was!! We were at a hotel nearby and needed supper after a long day of travel. Outstanding food!!!! I had a veggie taco, a corned beef taco, along with a side salad. Both tacos very good but that corned beef taco: Incredible! My son had fish and chips and his wife had a salad but I don't remember which one. My husband had a pub burger. All food was delicious!!

5 months agoThe fish and chips were great. The bangers were the best we’ve had in California. Service was pretty good as well. I’d go back in a heartbeat.

a month agoA proper pub and not just an Irish themed drinking bar. The food is well prepared and incredible. The drinks are well built, the beer is served at correct temperature.
